Supporting Parks
Trees and other plants offset our carbon footprint and our national, state, and local parks provide homes for these trees, so let’s support our parks! With increasing infrastructure, we must ensure nature is protected. Here are ten things you can do to help your parks:
1. Donate Money
The most obvious way you can support your park is by funding it. Donations can support staff, trail building, and protection of nature.
2. Volunteer
Parks need volunteers to improve trails, remove the trash, and contribute to visitor education. Volunteering is also a great excuse to make a trip to your favorite park.
3. Buy some sweet gear
A lot of national and state parks sell gear with profits supporting the maintenance of the park. If you don't want to donate, buying gear is a great way to get something while helping out.
4. Eat Chocolate
Some chocolate brands are making efforts to support local wildlife and parks through donating a portion of profits to charity. For instance, Endangered Species Chocolate donates to different wildlife organizations based on the chocolate you buy.
5. Sign up for trips
Another great way to help out your local parks is to plan trips with friends or family there. Some national and state parks have different tour opportunities that help keep the park running.
6. Be an artist
Adding more art and beauty to national parks is incredibly valuable. Whether you are a painter, musician, or photography, many national parks have opportunities available for you.
7. Work there
Your job could be working at a park you love. Check this page to find job openings across national parks. While volunteering is incredibly useful, sometimes you need to make a little money.
8. Give your opinion
It's up to the people to decide how the future of parks will look like. Always give your opinion to help improve and protect nature across our country.
9. Create your own fundraiser
You can raise money on your own for national parks. Whether it is a go-fund-me campaign or a 5k, the possibilities are endless. Light CO2 would be glad to help you!
10. Share it
One of the best ways to support your national or state park is to encourage other people to visit it. These areas have been preserved to protect nature, and helping other people connect with nature is one of the best ways you can help. It can even bring greater awareness to things like climate change.
